About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic technology team. In this role, you will work independently or with limited supervision to translate high-level business requirements into effective technical solutions. You will design, develop, and maintain complex software applications that support our business operations, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of full-stack development, cloud environments, and microservices architecture. You will lead small development projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance our operational efficiency and customer experience.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should have at least 5+ years of experience in software development within an IT environment, with a strong background in designing and developing RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot. A minimum of 3+ years of experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, MSSQL, or Postgres is required, along with 1+ years of experience with NoSQL databases like Cassandra or MongoDB. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field is essential. Proven expertise in full-stack development, cloud deployment, containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Responsibilities
Develop and debug software applications supporting new and existing systems, ensuring robust functionality and performance (65%).
Design, develop, execute, and document comprehensive unit and system-level test plans to ensure software quality (15%).
Propose and implement changes to existing applications or develop new features aligned with business needs (10%).
Provide ongoing support for production applications, troubleshooting issues and implementing timely fixes (5%).
Participate actively in Agile methodologies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, to foster continuous improvement (5%).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and develop APIs and integrations.
Build and deploy scalable, high-performance APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices principles.
Design and develop responsive web applications and reusable components utilizing React.js, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
Maintain and optimize database schemas, queries, and data streaming systems such as Kafka.
Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, and deployment processes across cloud and on-premise environments.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback to team members.
Monitor API performance metrics, analyze issues, and implement improvements to enhance system efficiency.
Develop comprehensive API documentation for internal and external developers and stakeholders.
Conduct integration testing to validate software components and ensure seamless functionality.
Mentor junior engineers, foster knowledge sharing, and seek guidance from senior team members to grow technical expertise.
Employ test-driven development practices to ensure high-quality deliverables and reduce defects.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously enhance development processes and solutions.
Benefits
Dollar General offers a competitive salary range of USD $122,000 to USD $127,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
