About the job Senior SRE FinOps Engineer - Remote (Portugal) Cloud spend is exploding everywhere. Most companies just watch the bill roll in. This one is different, and they want someone who can build the function from scratch. We're working with a fast-scaling, cash-generative tech business that's ready to stop reacting to cloud costs and start engineering them. They're hiring a Senior SRE FinOps Engineer to own that shift end-to-end not a reporting role, a build-it-yourself, influence-the-roadmap role. You'll sit at the intersection of SRE, Platform, and Finance, with a mandate to turn cloud spend into a strategic lever rather than a line item nobody controls. Why this one's different Greenfield ownership you're not maintaining someone else's FinOps program, you're building it. Direct line of sight to Engineering and Finance leadership, your numbers drive real decisions. A business that's genuinely growing, not just cutting costs to survive. Full remote, based in Portugal, with real autonomy over how you work. What you'll actually do Turn GCP billing chaos into a single source of truth: BigQuery, Tableau dashboards teams actually use. Build the tagging, budgeting, and alerting backbone that doesn't exist yet. Get hands-on: right-size GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL and compute; hunt down waste; push CUD utilisation up. Automate the boring stuff with Python so cost governance runs itself. What gets you noticed Strong SRE/DevOps/Platform background on GCP (AWS also very welcome). Real FinOps chops not just cost awareness, but a track record of measurable savings without breaking reliability. Python automation skills The confidence to influence engineers and Finance leaders alike, without needing formal authority to do it.
