As our infrastructure continues to scale, we are looking for a Dedicated Hosting Operations Specialist to help manage the procurement, provisioning, and operational management of dedicated server hardware across our global data center network. Job Overview Ultahost is seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Senior Network & Infrastructure Engineer to design, operate, optimize, and scale our global hosting, virtualization, storage, and network infrastructure across multiple data centers. This role is ideal for an experienced infrastructure professional who combines strong networking expertise with deep knowledge of virtualization platforms, storage systems, Linux administration, and hosting environments. You will play a key role in maintaining platform reliability, improving performance, driving automation, and helping shape the future of Ultahost’s infrastructure services. Key Responsibilities Infrastructure & Virtualization Design, deploy, and manage large-scale VPS and hosting infrastructure across multiple global data centers. Build, maintain, and optimize Proxmox VE clusters to ensure high availability, performance, and stability. Manage and support virtualization technologies including: Proxmox VE, KVM / QEMU, VMware vSphere / ESXi, yper-V Develop infrastructure standards, templates, deployment workflows, and provisioning processes. Perform capacity planning, resource forecasting, and infrastructure optimization. Implement and maintain high-availability, failover, replication, and disaster recovery strategies. Storage & Ceph Deploy, manage, and optimize Ceph storage clusters (MON, OSD, MGR, RGW). Improve cluster performance, balancing, replication, recovery, and scalability. Design backup, snapshot, and disaster recovery solutions. Ensure storage availability and reliability for production VPS and hosting services. Troubleshoot and resolve storage-related incidents and performance bottlenecks. Network Engineering Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Juniper routing and switching infrastructure. Maintain and optimize network performance, throughput, routing stability, and capacity utilization. Work with: BGP, OSPF, VRRP, VLANs, LACP High Availability networking technologies Design secure and resilient interconnectivity between data centers. Analyze network performance and proactively address latency, packet loss, and routing issues. Security & Infrastructure Hardening Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, ACLs, and access control policies. Implement infrastructure security best practices and hardening standards. Manage patching strategies and vulnerability remediation processes. Support incident response readiness and security improvement initiatives. Implement secure remote access and least-privilege operational models. Linux & Hosting Infrastructure Manage And Optimize Production Environments Running Linux Platforms like Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Windows Server (Preferred) Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022 Maintain and optimize hosting services including Nginx Apache LiteSpeed / OpenLiteSpeed Reverse Proxy Architectures SSL/TLS Management Caching Technologies Performance Optimization Log Analysis & Troubleshooting Additional Experience With The Following Is Beneficial PHP-FPM MariaDB / MySQL Redis HAProxy Keepalived Monitoring, Reliability & Operations Monitor infrastructure health and proactively prevent service disruptions. Improve observability through metrics, logging, alerting, and monitoring systems. Lead troubleshooting efforts during incidents and outages. Develop redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery strategies. Participate in on-call rotations and support operational requirements of a global hosting platform. Documentation & Collaboration Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, runbooks, network diagrams, and operational procedures. Collaborate closely with Support, Product, Engineering, and Leadership teams. Recommend architecture improvements and operational efficiencies. Contribute ideas for new infrastructure services, hosting products, and platform enhancements. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience managing hosting infrastructure, virtualization platforms, network operations, or data center environments. Strong hands-on experience with:Proxmox, KVM / QEMU, Ceph Storage, Juniper Networking Strong understanding of: High Availability architectures, Virtualization technologies Network routing and switching, Storage systems *Linux system administration Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills. Experience with infrastructure security, hardening, and operational best practices. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Nice to Have VMware vSphere / ESXi Microsoft Hyper-V OpenStack oVirt / RHV Xen LXD / LXC Virtuozzo Automation Experience With Ansible Terraform Python Bash Kubernetes administration and operations. WHMCS or hosting provisioning platform experience. Experience working within the hosting, VPS, cloud infrastructure, or data center industry.
