For our client, we are seeking a Senior IT Architect (enterprise Applications / Clinical Platforms) to join the team of a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space. This role will lead technical work focused on secure, reliable systems and risk-aware execution. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a life sciences environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $133,100 – $221,900 annually
Responsibilities
Drive architecture for interoperability and integration capabilities across systems and services
Translate functional and non-functional requirements into target architectures with cross-departmental collaboration
Define standards and guidelines for APIs and integration patterns to ensure operational readiness
Evaluate solution options and communicate technical tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences
Coach and mentor engineers and architects to elevate technical capabilities within the team
Govem integration reference architectures across APIs and event-driven workflows for scalability and performance
Collaborate with security and platform teams to implement secure integration approaches
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
7+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in architecture across multiple systems
Strong enterprise integration architecture skills across REST APIs, event-driven messaging, and secure data exchange patterns
Proficient in cloud-native architecture principles (microservices, containers, resiliency patterns) utilized within Azure, AWS, or GCP
Experience designing large-scale, multi-tenant services focusing on reliability, scalability, and security best practices

API-led connectivity, Event-driven architecture, RESTful services, OpenAPI/Swagger, Kafka, Microservices, Docker, Oracle, Redis, Elasticsearch, Azure, AWS, GCP, CI/CD, HL7v2, FHIR (R4+), SMART on FHIR, OAuth2, Dynatrace, Hands-on experience with FHIR, Microservices frameworks (e.g., Spring), Kafka or equivalent messaging platforms, Observability platforms (e.g., Dynatrace), Databricks, Healthcare workflows and data exchange constraints, Cloud security practices, Data governance frameworks, MLOps, FastAPI or similar frameworks for Python, Integration with EMRs, Agile methodologies for software development, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, Service mesh technologies, Caching mechanisms beyond Redis (e.g., Memcached), Monitoring and alerting systems integration to ensure uptime, GraphQL or similar API characteristics for data fetching patterns, Data privacy compliance measures (e.g., HIPAA) and security standards for healthcare data
