We're looking for a senior developer with strong backend expertise who can design, build, and maintain critical platform features while working alongside AI-powered development tools. This is not a junior or training position. You'll be expected to make sound technical decisions, write production-quality code, and take ownership of features from architecture through deployment with minimal supervision. About the Role You'll be building a multi-tenant SaaS platform for the waste hauling industry. The platform includes billing, dispatch, CRM, fleet management, customer portals, and operational workflows used by real businesses every day. AI coding assistants will handle much of the repetitive work, allowing you to focus on architecture, system design, integrations, performance, and solving complex engineering problems. Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and Express Develop and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including complex queries, migrations, indexing, and materialized views Build and maintain secure multi-tenant SaaS architecture with proper tenant isolation and RBAC Develop and maintain billing, invoicing, and financial workflows Build and maintain REST APIs and third-party integrations Collaborate with AI coding tools such as Claude and Codex to accelerate development Review, refine, and validate AI-generated code before production Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code Participate in code reviews using Git and pull requests Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance Document technical decisions and implementation details Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver new platform features Ask for approval before making architectural changes Continuously improve scalability, reliability, and maintainability What We're Looking For 5+ years of production experience with Node.js and Express Strong PostgreSQL experience, including complex queries, migrations, indexing, and materialized views Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms Strong understanding of tenant isolation and role-based access control (RBAC) Experience building billing or invoicing systems Clean Git workflow using pull requests and atomic commits Comfortable working with AI coding tools such as Claude or Codex Ability to overlap at least 4 hours daily with US Eastern Time Excellent problem-solving and software architecture skills Strong written English communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Preferred Experience in waste management, logistics, transportation, or field service software Experience building dispatch, routing, or scheduling systems Experience with Socket.IO or WebSockets Experience configuring and deploying Nginx Experience integrating QuickBooks, Samsara, or similar APIs Nice to Have React or Vanilla JavaScript experience Docker and containerization Azure infrastructure Expo or React Native mobile development Do NOT Apply If You need guidance to complete routine engineering tasks You have little or no production experience with Node.js or PostgreSQL You have never built or maintained a multi-tenant SaaS application You are not comfortable reviewing and improving AI-generated code You frequently write code without documentation or proper testing You are unavailable to overlap at least 4 hours with US Eastern Time Apply here: https://wisevas.io/work-with-us This is an external position to work at a WiseVAs client.
