About the job We are looking for an experienced Senior DNS & Secure Mail Infrastructure Engineer to join a highly secure enterprise infrastructure team responsible for supporting business-critical IT services in a global environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, optimization, and continuous improvement of secure DNS and mail gateway platforms that ensure the availability, integrity, and security of enterprise communication services. You will work on highly customized infrastructure solutions, contribute to automation initiatives, and provide advanced operational support within a mission-critical environment. This position requires strong expertise in DNS technologies, secure email infrastructure, security protocols, troubleshooting, and infrastructure automation. Key Responsibilities Operate, maintain, and enhance enterprise DNS and secure mail gateway infrastructure. Design, implement, and optimize highly available and secure DNS and email gateway solutions. Analyze the existing infrastructure and propose technical improvements to increase performance, security, and operational efficiency. Manage secure email services, including encryption, decryption, digital signing, certificate lifecycle management, and SMTP communication. Administer DNS services, including DNSSEC implementation and DNS security best practices. Configure and maintain firewall policies supporting DNS and mail gateway services. Develop, improve, and maintain automation scripts for operational and administrative tasks. Perform root cause analysis and resolve complex incidents in 1st and 2nd level support, escalating to software vendors when necessary. Support infrastructure lifecycle activities, including software upgrades, patch management, configuration changes, and security updates. Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards and business continuity requirements. Participate in incident, problem, change, and event management processes following ITIL best practices. Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles. Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure, security, and operations teams to deliver reliable and secure services. Required Qualifications Several years of experience in enterprise DNS and secure email infrastructure administration. Strong expertise with: BIND DNS DNSSEC Postfix Secure Mail Gateway technologies (Compumatica Secure Mail Gateway or similar) Solid understanding of: SMTP Mail encryption and decryption Digital signatures Certificate Management (PKI) LDAP Experience with enterprise firewall administration, preferably: Check Point Palo Alto Networks Strong scripting skills for infrastructure automation and operational improvements. Experience diagnosing and resolving critical infrastructure incidents in production environments. Knowledge of ITIL v3 processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management. Experience with ServiceNow. Familiarity with monitoring and event management platforms such as: Nagios Splunk Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities. Fluent English communication skills. Nice to Have Experience supporting high-security or enterprise data center environments. Knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery concepts. Familiarity with: SharePoint Citrix Microsoft Office Experience working with enterprise authentication and identity management solutions. Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools. German language skills are considered an advantage.
