About The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic Developer Experience team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to lead and shape the DevOps landscape within DWP Digital, driving automation, scalability, and resilience across our cloud-based infrastructure. As a senior member of the team, you will have the autonomy to define best practices, develop reusable automation components, and support the organization’s digital transformation efforts. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and promoting a culture of engineering excellence. This role is ideal for a passionate professional eager to make a significant impact on public service delivery through innovative DevOps practices and cloud solutions. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code, demonstrating a strong understanding of automation in complex environments. You should have extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems, including scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python. Experience working within a DevOps environment, including continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), agile methodologies, and delivery pipelines, is essential. You should have a track record of designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, along with the ability to support and guide multi-disciplinary engineering teams. Familiarity with developer portals like Backstage or Port, and their integration into development workflows, is highly desirable. Strong communication skills, technical leadership, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are critical for success in this role. Responsibilities As a Senior DevOps Engineer, your key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure solutions primarily using AWS and modern DevOps tools. You will design and implement reusable CI/CD components, automate deployment processes, and promote best practices across teams. Supporting and mentoring engineers, you will foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence. You will collaborate with various teams to improve developer experience, streamline workflows, and embed standardization and security practices. Additionally, you will contribute to the evolution of our internal developer platform, ensuring it provides self-service capabilities, software catalogues, and standardized workflows at scale. Your role will also involve supporting the organization’s digital transformation initiatives, driving automation, and ensuring the stability and security of our systems. You will enjoy a generous holiday entitlement starting at 26 days, increasing to 31 days over time, plus up to three additional days off per month through flexi-time.
