Our client is a global leader in science and technology, supporting a diverse portfolio of businesses across life sciences, diagnostics, and industrial innovation. As part of its ongoing digital transformation strategy, the organization is investing heavily in cloud modernization, infrastructure automation, platform standardization, and enterprise technology enablement initiatives across its global operations.
To support several upcoming cloud initiatives, our client is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join its Digital Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments while helping drive cloud governance, automation, security, and operational excellence.
ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS and Microsoft Azure environments in alignment with enterprise architecture standards
Support cloud platform governance and management frameworks, including AWS Organizations, AWS Control Tower, Azure Management Groups, and Azure Subscriptions
Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates, and/or Bicep
Develop automated deployment, provisioning, and configuration management solutions to improve operational efficiency and consistency
Implement cloud security controls including IAM policies, security groups, network segmentation, encryption standards, and monitoring capabilities
Monitor cloud environments using native cloud tools and troubleshoot performance, availability, scalability, and connectivity issues
Collaborate with infrastructure, security, application, and operations teams to support cloud migration, modernization, and standardization initiatives
Develop and maintain cloud architecture documentation, runbooks, operational procedures, technical standards, and support documentation
Support FinOps and cloud cost optimization initiatives including resource tagging, rightsizing, reserved instance planning, budgeting, and spend reporting
Administer and support Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, server hardening, and patch management
Participate in cloud architecture reviews, operational planning, incident resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives
Support enterprise infrastructure projects across multiple business units and technology domains
ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
8+ years of hands-on cloud infrastructure engineering experience supporting enterprise environments
Strong experience designing, deploying, and supporting AWS infrastructure and cloud-native services
Deep expertise with AWS services including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Route53, Lambda, CloudWatch, and CloudFormation
Strong experience working with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and platform services
Experience with Azure services including Azure AD/Entra ID, Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, ExpressRoute, Azure Monitor, Azure DevOps, and ARM/Bicep templates
Strong experience implementing Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, Bicep, Pulumi, or similar technologies
Experience administering Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 environments
Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, server hardening, and patch management
Experience implementing cloud security controls, identity management, monitoring, governance, and compliance standards
Experience supporting cloud migration and modernization initiatives within large enterprise environments
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification
Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), or similar Azure certifications
Experience with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or other scripting languages for automation and operational support
Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud governance and FinOps initiatives
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud automation frameworks
Experience working within highly regulated, global enterprise environments
Experience supporting hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a contract opportunity expected to run through the end of 2026, with a strong possibility of extension into 2027.
The role may be performed remotely from anywhere within North America; however, candidates must be able to work within Americas time zones. Candidates located in the Pacific Northwest region are preferred, although location is not a requirement.
