The role focuses on modernizing hybrid integration environments, transforming legacy SAP PI/PO architectures, and establishing event-driven and cloud-native integration models. The architect operates at the intersection of business, enterprise/integration architecture, infrastructure, and development teams, ensuring scalable, resilient, secure, and strategy-aligned integration solutions. Key Responsibilities Architecture & Strategy Design end-to-end integration architectures (cloud, hybrid, on-premise) Define target architectures within S/4HANA transformation programs Introduce and implement Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) Establish integration governance, standards, and best practices Drive technology selection and architectural decision-making Integration Modernization Analyze and assess existing SAP PI/PO landscapes Develop modernization strategies (e.g., transition to SAP Integration Suite) Introduce event-driven and/or API-centric integration models Replace traditional middleware and point-to-point connectivity with cloud-native integration patterns Migration & Assessment Conduct structured migration assessments Perform integration maturity and capability analyses Develop transformation roadmaps Technical Focus Areas Implement cloud integration scenarios using SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration) Design and configure event-driven architectures using broker technologies such as SAP Advanced Event Mesh, Solace, Confluent, Kafka Enable SAP ERP systems using ASAPIO Integration Add-on/ SAP Event Add-on for ERP Implement real-time, asynchronous, and API-based integration patterns CORE COMPETENCIES SAP Technologies SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration) SAP Advanced Event Mesh SAP Event Add-on for ERP / ASAPIO Integration Add-on SAP PI/PO (architecture, optimization, migration) Optional: API Management & OData services IDoc, RFC, SOAP, REST Interface Test Suites (e.g. Figaf, Int4) Architecture & Methodology Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) SAP Integration Solution Advisory-Methodology (ISA-M) Optional: DevOps and CI/CD practices in integration environments Optional: Cloud & Platform Expertise SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) Hyperscaler fundamentals (AWS, Azure, GCP) Security and identity concepts (OAuth, mTLS, SAP IAS)
