About the job Role Overview The Senior Platform Engineer on the Data Platform team is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data models, access patterns, and database infrastructure to support transactional and analytical systems. They work across Product Engineering, Analytics, ML, and Platform teams to ensure data quality, consistency, scalability, and security, focusing on modern data model migrations reflecting business needs at scale. Key duties include developing data schemas in Postgres, defining data access standards using Python and Typescript, optimizing queries, and ensuring reliable database operations in AWS. They mentor engineers, improve data usability, and contribute to infrastructure security, reliability, and observability. Participation in on-call responsibilities and collaboration within agile teams are essential. Qualifications & Skills 4+ years in Backend or Data Platform Engineering 3+ years writing production SQL and backend code Strong proficiency in Python Experience with data modeling concepts Knowledge of observability tools like Datadog and Cloudwatch Excellent troubleshooting skills for distributed systems Strong communication and problem-solving abilities Experience with on-call incident management Preferred Skills Proficiency in Typescript or Golang Experience with large data migrations and AWS services (Aurora, S3, Lambda) Familiarity with Snowflake, Data Engineering tools, and event-driven architectures
