A global consulting organization is seeking a Senior Enterprise Architect to support a large-scale transportation systems modernization program. This is a fully remote contract opportunity aligned to a long-term initiative based in Richmond, Virginia. The role focuses on enterprise application architecture leveraging C#, .NET, Angular, and Microsoft Azure technologies.
This position offers the chance to work on a multi-year transformation initiative involving mission-critical systems similar to DMV platforms. The organization is rolling out a proven application suite to a new state and needs a seasoned architect to guide implementation. This role is ideal for someone who has worked on large, complex application ecosystems and wants to operate as a true architectural authority rather than a hands-on developer.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong background in C# / .NET development (hands-on experience earlier in career)
Proven experience in enterprise architecture roles (not just senior development)
Experience with Microsoft Azure, including microservices and cloud-native architecture
Experience working on large-scale, enterprise-level applications
Ability to guide and advise engineering teams on design and implementation
Strong communication skills for client-facing interactions
Desired Skills & Experience
Experience with Angular or modern JavaScript frameworks
Background in government, transportation, or DMV-related systems
Familiarity with AAMVA or NMVTIS standards
Previous consulting or advisory experience in large programs

Act as a subject matter expert for enterprise application architecture
Answer technical and architectural questions from engineering teams
Guide implementation approaches and system design decisions

The Offer
$80–$95/hour depending on experience
