About The Role We are seeking a talented Cloud Software Developer to join our remote team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative cloud-based solutions that support satellite data and products for public and government agencies. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with application developers to transition legacy systems to the cloud environment, primarily utilizing AWS cloud services. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining serverless applications and infrastructure as code, ensuring scalable, secure, and efficient deployment of scientific applications. Your expertise will contribute to automating cloud deployments, managing CI/CD pipelines, and troubleshooting complex cloud environments to maintain operational excellence. This position requires a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for working with satellite data and cloud technologies in a mission-critical setting. Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of professional software development experience. At least 2 years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, and RDS. Proficiency in deploying and managing containerized applications in cloud environments. Strong knowledge of data formats such as YAML, JSON, and XML. Experience with version control systems, preferably Git, and issue tracking tools like Jira. Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, tools, and methodologies. Solid understanding of Linux-based operating systems. Awareness of current security principles, protocols, and best practices. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. United States citizenship and the ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security clearance process. Responsibilities Design, develop, and deploy serverless applications and infrastructure as code in AWS, adhering to best practices and standards. Create and maintain APIs, architecture components, and supporting tools to facilitate scientific application deployment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software developers, scientists, and system administrators to automate cloud deployments and optimize CI/CD pipelines. Conduct code reviews, refactoring, and manage source code repositories to ensure code quality and maintainability. Support a DevOps environment by assisting in development, testing, operations, and troubleshooting of mission-critical systems. Implement security measures, perform hardening, and conduct assessments to ensure compliance with security standards and operational requirements. Monitor cloud environments, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance for satellite data processing applications. Stay updated with the latest AWS features, security protocols, and cloud best practices to continuously improve deployment processes.
