About the job Role: Platform Engineer Location: Remote Mode: Contract Job Description: Client is looking for a **Contract Platform Engineer** to help build, operate, and evolve the cloud-native platform that powers client products. This role will focus on Kubernetes, GitOps, cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, observability, and platform reliability for content, sports, media, and consumer-facing applications. You will work closely with application engineering, DevOps, product, and infrastructure teams to improve the developer experience, standardize delivery workflows, and support the migration and modernization of workloads across AWS and OCI/OKE environments. What You Will Do Operate Kubernetes Platforms: Support and improve Kubernetes-based application platforms across EKS, OKE, and related cloud environments. Drive GitOps Delivery: Build and maintain Argo CD-based deployment workflows, including Application Sets, app-of-apps patterns, environment-specific values, and safe production sync practices. Support Helm Chart Workflows: Work with shared Helm chart libraries, OCI chart publishing, chart versioning, and per-application configuration repositories. Improve Developer Experience: Create reusable platform patterns, documentation, templates, runbooks, and tooling that make it easier for application teams to deploy and operate services. Cloud Migration Support: Help modernize and migrate workloads from AWS-based infrastructure toward OCI/OKE where appropriate, including secrets, ingress, networking, observability, and deployment changes. Platform Reliability: Improve monitoring, alerting, logging, tracing, SLOs, and operational visibility for shared platform services and application workloads. Infrastructure Automation: Contribute to infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD automation, Kubernetes manifests, Helm charts, and GitOps repositories. Security & Multi-Tenancy: Support RBAC, namespace boundaries, AppProject policies, secret-management patterns, and secure access to platform resources. Incident & Operational Support: Troubleshoot deployment failures, Kubernetes issues, Argo CD drift, chart rendering problems, resource health, and production reliability issues. Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with CMS, Sports, Games, Media, QA Engineering, Shared Services, Network Engineering, and InfoSec stakeholders. Required Qualifications: Strong hands-on experience with **Kubernetes** in production environments. Experience operating **Argo CD** or similar GitOps deployment systems. Experience with **Helm**, Kustomize, Kubernetes YAML, and Git-based deployment workflows. Cloud experience with **AWS**, **OCI**, or similar cloud providers. Familiarity with containerized application delivery using Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar. Strong troubleshooting skills across Kubernetes workloads, networking, ingress, DNS, secrets, and deployment pipelines. Working knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Datadog, CloudWatch, or OCI-native monitoring. Experience with Git workflows, pull requests, code review, and environment promotion. Ability to write clear documentation, operational runbooks, and platform guidance for application engineers. Strong communication skills and comfort working with distributed engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Argo CD ApplicationSets, AppProjects, multi-cluster deployment, and production sync strategies. Experience publishing and consuming OCI Helm charts, especially from GitHub Container Registry or OCIR. Experience with External Secrets Operator, AWS Secrets Manager, OCI Vault, or Vault-based secret workflows. Experience with Terraform, OpenTofu, Crossplane, or other infrastructure-as-code tools. Experience supporting migrations from AWS EKS to OCI OKE. Familiarity with ingress controllers, load balancers, WAF/CDN patterns, Fastly, Cloudflare, or similar edge infrastructure. Experience designing multi-tenant Kubernetes platforms with RBAC, namespaces, quotas, and policy enforcement. Familiarity with Grafana LGTM stack, OpenTelemetry, or managed observability platforms. Scripting or development experience in Go, Python, Bash, TypeScript, or similar. Experience supporting high-traffic media, sports, CMS, or consumer digital platforms. Contract Scope This is a hands-on contract role focused on platform delivery, migration support, operational reliability, and developer enablement. The ideal candidate can quickly understand existing GitOps and Kubernetes patterns, improve them safely, and help application teams move faster without compromising reliability or production control. Ideal Candidate You are a pragmatic platform engineer who understands that the platform exists to help product teams ship safely. You treat the platform as a product: you care about the developer experience, listen to internal users, reduce friction, document clear paths, and improve the platform based on real team needs. You are comfortable in Kubernetes, GitOps, cloud infrastructure, and incident troubleshooting. You can move between architecture, implementation, debugging, documentation, and team enablement without losing sight of reliability and operational simplicity.
