About the job Lead Systems Engineer / semiconductors Location: Germany (Remote) – Travel to Geneva as required Contract Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer / Hardware Architect to lead the architecture and development of complex high-power electro-mechanical test platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in system-level engineering, power electronics, hardware architecture, controls, safety, and validation, while coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and serving as the primary technical interface with the customer. Key Responsibilities Define and own the overall system architecture for high-power electronic test platforms. Develop system-level requirements, interface definitions, architecture documentation, and requirement traceability. Design and review power electronics, hardware interfaces, control logic, sensing, protection systems, and safety mechanisms. Coordinate hardware configurations for multiple test modes using relays, switches, control logic, and protection circuits. Define operational sequences including pre-charge, charge, discharge, fault detection, protection triggering, emergency shutdown, and safe-state transitions. Ensure compliance with safety, EMC, regulatory, and validation standards. Identify and mitigate system-level risks related to high-voltage/high-current operation, signal integrity, EMI/EMC, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability. Lead cross-functional engineering teams across hardware, firmware, mechanical, validation, compliance, and documentation. Act as the primary technical liaison between customers and internal engineering teams, driving technical planning, risk management, validation, and project execution. Required Skills & Experience 10–15 years of experience in system engineering, system architecture, or product development of complex electro-mechanical systems. Strong experience with high-power semiconductor test systems, pulsed-power systems, high-voltage/high-current equipment, or power electronics platforms. Expertise in system architecture covering power electronics, embedded controls, hardware interfaces, sensing circuits, firmware, protection systems, and mechanical integration. Experience defining system interfaces, operating sequences, and technical dependencies. Strong understanding of protection systems including overcurrent, short-circuit protection, interlocks, safe shutdown, and fault handling. Experience with controller boards, sensors, communication interfaces, relay/switch circuits, and monitoring systems. Knowledge of EMC, electrical safety, compliance, validation, and risk assessment. Proven leadership in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and customer-facing technical engagements.
