IT Systems Engineer

Accountabilities: The IT Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing and enhancing internal systems, ensuring secure and reliable operations across a remote-first environment. This role requires strong technical ownership, automation skills, and the ability to partner with multiple teams to improve productivity and security. Manage user lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, role changes, and access management across identity providers, devices, GitHub, and SaaS platforms. Administer and improve endpoint management processes for remote employees, including device security, patching, compliance, and configuration management. Maintain identity and access management systems, including SSO solutions and least-privilege access controls. Manage GitHub organization settings, permissions, repositories, integrations, and automation in collaboration with engineering teams. Develop automation solutions using scripting and programming languages to streamline IT workflows, provisioning, audits, and access reviews. Maintain internal IT tools and systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, and employee experience. Partner with security and engineering teams to support compliance efforts, including audit preparation and security framework initiatives. Define and enforce IT policies related to devices, access controls, and security while maintaining usability and operational efficiency. Evaluate, implement, and manage SaaS applications and technology solutions that support business needs. Lead IT projects such as system migrations, tooling improvements, and new technology rollouts. Create and maintain technical documentation, workflows, and operational standards to improve knowledge sharing and reduce complexity. Requirements: The ideal candidate is a technically skilled IT professional with experience supporting modern technology environments, automation, security practices, and cloud-based systems. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting are essential. 3+ years of experience in IT systems engineering, IT operations, or a similar technical role within a modern technology environment. Experience automating IT processes and workflows using Python, Go, or similar programming languages. Strong knowledge of GitHub administration, including organization management, permissions, integrations, and automation. Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Experience with identity and access management solutions, including SSO and identity provider platforms such as Okta or equivalent. Practical experience managing endpoints, particularly macOS devices, in a remote-first environment. Understanding of security best practices, device hardening, access controls, and audit readiness. Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001. Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and take ownership of solutions. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to improving systems and processes.
