Role Overview The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of core IT infrastructure including servers, networking, backups, security, and device management. This role involves managing both on-premises and cloud infrastructure, supporting users and systems, and ensuring operational resilience. Experience with technologies like AWS Services (specifically EC2, RDS, storage offerings like S3/EBS, and monitoring tools like CloudWatch), Hyper-V, Veeam, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Defender, SonicWall, and Unifi is highly preferred JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Infrastructure Management Deploy, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Hyper-V/EC2) Ensure high availability, performance monitoring, and patching of server infrastructure Manage backup and recovery using Veeam for both virtual and physical workloads Maintain secure FTP/SFTP configurations and monitor access Provision and manage cloud infrastructure including EC2 instances, RDS databases, and AWS storage solutions (S3, EBS) to ensure scalability and performance Identity & Access Management (IAM) Administer Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) including SSO and RBAC policies Manage endpoint security and compliance using Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender Oversee user lifecycle (onboarding/offboarding), MFA, and conditional access policies Networking & Security Support VPN configurations and troubleshoot connectivity issues (SoftEther VPN, Microsoft Global Secure Access (GSA) experience is a plus) Administer SonicWall firewalls, site-to-site VPNs, NAT, and security policies Manage network infrastructure including Unifi switches and access points Monitor network health and usage with tools such as PRTG Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation tracking with tools like Rapid7 Collaboration & Cloud Platforms Support and manage Microsoft SharePoint Online environments for document collaboration Assist with Microsoft 365 service administration including license and policy management Provide integration support for cloud and on-prem services where applicable Monitoring, Patch & Incident Management Continuously monitor infrastructure health, performance observability, and alerting using tools such as PRTG and AWS CloudWatch Perform OS and application patching cycles across all managed endpoints Respond to infrastructure incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions Document infrastructure changes, configurations, and troubleshooting guides Utilize AWS CloudWatch for monitoring, performance observability, and alerting Backup, Disaster Recovery and Compliance Ensure regular backup integrity testing and DR readiness using Veeam Maintain system documentation and support compliance efforts related to data retention, encryption, and access control Support off-site and cloud-based recovery operations REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Customer-focused mindset with effective communication Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field 5+ years of experience in IT support, system administration, or infrastructure/cloud operations Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux systems, Active Directory, Office 365, AWS Infrastructure Working knowledge of networking, cloud services, and ITSM tools Experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) is a plus Relevant certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), AWS, Azure, or ITIL are preferred Preferred AWS Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), AWS Certified Security – Specialty
