Lead Infrastructure Architect – Hyper-V Transformation, VMware & VxRail Migration
Contract | Hybrid | Inside IR35
We are seeking an experienced Lead Infrastructure Architect to lead a major VMware and Dell EMC VxRail to Hyper-V transformation programme for a large enterprise environment.
This role will take ownership of the end-to-end design, assurance, and migration of a highly available Microsoft Hyper-V platform, replacing an existing VMware and VxRail estate. You'll work across architecture, migration planning, infrastructure design, testing, and delivery within a complex multi-stakeholder environment.
Updated Key Responsibilities
Lead discovery and assessment of the current VMware and VxRail environment using RVTools and infrastructure analysis
Define functional and non-functional requirements across availability, performance, DR, security, and scalability
Design enterprise-scale Hyper-V infrastructure solutions including HLD and LLD documentation
Produce Bills of Materials (BoM), deployment plans, and migration runbooks
Lead migration activities from VMware/VxRail to Hyper-V, including VMDK to VHDX conversion and workload cutovers
Design and validate HA and DR capabilities using technologies such as Failover Clustering and Hyper-V Replica
Define networking, storage, and compute architecture across clustered environments
Deliver testing strategies covering performance, resilience, failover, and DR validation
Provide documentation, knowledge transfer, and operational handover to support teams
