GCP DevOps Engineer

About the job Job description: Wiser builds and operates enterprise platforms for large, regulated organisations — multi-channel AI products combining retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic AI, and strict data-isolation requirements, delivered on sovereign cloud infrastructure. We've delivered these in cloud and on-prem; we're now standing up similar platforms on Google Cloud (GCP), and we need a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead that build-out. You'll own the cloud platform underneath these AI products end-to-end: GKE clusters, GitOps delivery, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, and the security posture that regulated and sovereign clients demand. This is a hands-on senior role with platform-design ownership — you'll set patterns the rest of the team builds on. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Design and operate multi-environment (Dev/QA/Prod) GKE platforms in a hub-spoke model, including networking, service mesh, and multi-tenant / multi-subsidiary isolation. Build Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform — reusable, reviewable modules for repeatable, client-isolated deployments. Own GitOps delivery (Argo CD / Config Sync) and CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build / Cloud Deploy / GitHub Actions) with a tag-based, multi-client release strategy. Run the AI-platform layer in production: Vertex AI (Gemini / Model Garden) or OpenAI-compatible model endpoints, vector search, and the RAG/agentic services behind FastAPI backends and Next.js / React Native frontends. Implement observability (Google Cloud Managed Service for Prometheus, Cloud Monitoring, Grafana) and on-call/operational runbooks. Enforce a sovereign-grade security posture — Secret Manager, workload identity, IAM/RBAC, network segmentation, prompt-gateway and inference-isolation controls. Mentor engineers and codify platform patterns as the team scales from Azure into GCP. WHAT YOU WILL NEED: 5+ years DevOps / platform / SRE, with deep Kubernetes in production — ideally GKE (strong AKS/EKS experience welcome and transferable). Strong GCP (or proven cloud-portability: deep Azure/AWS plus eagerness to lead on GCP). Terraform to a senior standard; GitOps (Argo CD or equivalent); modern CI/CD. Container build/runtime, Artifact Registry, networking, and service mesh (Istio / Anthos Service Mesh). Production observability and incident response. A security mindset for regulated / sovereign environments (data residency, isolation, secrets, least-privilege). NICE TO HAVE: Hands-on running GenAI workloads in production — Vertex AI, RAG pipelines, vector databases, agentic frameworks, LLM gateways. Multi-tenant / multi-customer SaaS platform delivery. Cloud-portability and on-prem reference architectures. GCP Professional certifications (Cloud Architect, DevOps Engineer). WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
