About this role
The candidate will join the Buyers team to build and enhance buyer-facing applications focused on the checkout and payment experience. The role involves designing, building, and refining intuitive, high-performing features end-to-end, from technical discussions to deployment. The technical environment includes React, TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS, with a focus on frontend-first development. The developer will collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers in an Agile environment, participating in code reviews, architecture discussions, and production on-call rotations. This is a maternity leave replacement position for at least 6 months.

This is a maternity leave replacement position, for at least 6 months, offering the opportunity to make an immediate impact while working closely with a talented, collaborative engineering team.
Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position, requires working from the Lisbon office 2–3 days per week to collaborate with the team in person.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to translate business requirements into intuitive, high-quality web applications.
- Build and enhance user-facing features with a frontend-first mindset, while contributing across the full stack when needed.
- Design, develop, and own features end-to-end—from technical discussions and implementation through deployment and production.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and design reviews to ensure high engineering standards and maintainable code.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the application stack, delivering reliable and scalable solutions.
- Write automated tests and contribute to CI/CD pipelines to maintain code quality and enable rapid, reliable releases.
- Continuously improve development processes, tools, and engineering best practices to increase team productivity.
- Stay up to date with modern frontend technologies, frameworks, and industry trends, applying new ideas where they add value.
- Participate in team responsibilities, including production on-call rotations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in a fintech environment.
- Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS, with a passion for building high-quality, user-centric web applications.
- Solid experience with Node.js, RESTful APIs, and preferably NestJS.
- Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and the ability to translate design concepts into intuitive, responsive user interfaces.
- Experience with frontend testing frameworks and tools, preferably Jest and Playwright.
- Experience working in Agile environments with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and public cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- A collaborative, proactive team player who can also work independently and take ownership of features.
- Willingness to work onsite 3 days per week in Lisbon, Portugal, following an initial fully remote onboarding period.
