Director and Practice Lead, Platform Engineering

Accountabilities: The Director and Practice Lead will own the strategic direction, growth, and performance of the Platform Engineering practice. This role requires a balance of technical leadership, commercial ownership, client engagement, and team development to establish a market-leading engineering capability. Define and execute the long-term vision, strategy, and market positioning for the Platform Engineering practice. Align technical capabilities with evolving market demands and enterprise cloud transformation needs. Own the practice’s full financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, margins, pricing strategies, and delivery outcomes. Develop business opportunities by partnering with commercial teams, identifying market opportunities, and contributing to complex consulting engagements. Build and maintain strong relationships with enterprise executives, cloud ecosystem partners, and strategic stakeholders. Act as a trusted advisor to C-suite leaders, helping organizations navigate cloud adoption, technology strategy, and digital transformation initiatives. Invest in intellectual property, reusable assets, accelerators, and delivery methodologies that improve scalability and business outcomes. Identify emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain a competitive and innovative practice. Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering and consulting teams while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning. Establish quality standards, engineering best practices, and delivery approaches that create long-term client value. Requirements: The ideal candidate is a technology consulting leader with extensive experience building and scaling engineering practices. They bring strong commercial acumen, deep cloud expertise, executive presence, and a proven ability to lead teams while driving measurable business growth. 12+ years of experience in technology consulting, cloud engineering, enterprise architecture, or related technology leadership roles. 3–5+ years of experience leading a technology practice, business unit, or engineering organization at an executive level. Proven experience owning P&L responsibilities, including revenue, profitability, growth targets, and operational performance. Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture, enterprise IT strategy, and modern technology ecosystems. Experience with major cloud platforms and large-scale cloud transformation initiatives. Demonstrated success generating business opportunities and closing complex, multi-stakeholder consulting engagements. Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence, challenge, and advise senior business and technology leaders. Experience building, developing, and retaining senior engineering and consulting talent. Strategic mindset with the ability to translate market trends into actionable business and technology strategies. Strong leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving, and highly collaborative environment. Benefits: Competitive compensation range of CA$211,000 – CA$302,000 .
