About the job
Our client is a U.S.-based private real estate investment firm with a fully custom, cloud-native data platform: 60+ Cloud Run services, ETL pipelines, internal analytics apps, and AI-assisted tooling — all built in-house over the past five years.
They're hiring their first dedicated platform engineer to own the reliability and operational health of that stack.
The role in one sentence: you're the 911. When something breaks, you're first on the scene. When something's about to break, you've already caught it.
What you'll own:
Build a centralized observability dashboard (live health, error logs, cost anomalies, expiring credentials) — this is your first deliverable
Monitor all ETL pipelines and Cloud Run services; respond to alerts before they cascade
Proactive maintenance: dependency upgrades, security patches, GCP migrations
IAM and secrets governance across the full stack
Cloud and BigQuery billing governance — investigate spikes to the root cause
Deployment safety: staging environments, rollback paths, release practices
The stack:
GCP — Cloud Run, BigQuery, Firestore, Vertex AI Search
Python-based ETL pipelines
Next.js frontends
Heavy AI-assisted development (Cursor and similar tools)
You're a strong fit if:
✅ You have deep, hands-on GCP experience — not just familiarity
✅ You think serverless-first (Cloud Run is your default)
✅ You use AI coding tools daily and know when to push back on them
✅ You've built observability systems or removed single-person dependencies before
✅ You can commit to US Eastern / Central business hours — this is a hard requirement
Not a fit if your cloud experience is primarily AWS or Azure, or you prefer greenfield builds over maintaining and hardening existing systems.
Location: Remote from Colombia
Hours: Must align with Central time zone USA
