DevOps Engineer

About the job We are currently looking on behalf of our client, a leading Swiss ICT and telecommunications company, for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a modern data platform team in Zurich. The position is offered as a fixed-term contract running from 1 August 2026 until the end of June 2027. Please note that neither a contract extension nor an internalization is foreseen. In this role, you will work on the design and implementation of scalable data products within a Kafka-based event streaming architecture. You will play a key role in shaping data structures, defining event models, and ensuring high-quality, production-ready data products across the platform. Your Responsibilities Analyze and map existing data structures to a standardized enterprise data model Design Kafka-based data products, including event models, data contracts, topic design, and best practices Develop and implement data products on Apache Kafka Ensure end-to-end data lifecycle management, including development, deployment, validation, and observability Work closely with engineering and platform teams to ensure scalable and robust data solutions Your Profile University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, Kubernetes, and Elasticsearch Deep expertise in Kafka Streams, ksqlDB, or Apache Flink Solid understanding of modern data engineering practices and automated data operations lifecycle Strong knowledge of search technologies, especially Elasticsearch Proven experience in building and operating data products in complex environments Does this sound like an exciting opportunity to you?
