About The Role The Cloud Engineer role at Sysco is a pivotal position responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the company's cloud infrastructure on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This hybrid position requires an on-site presence three to four days a week, with the possibility of increased days based on business needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in GCP architecture, database solutions, and data analytics, playing a key role in ensuring the security, scalability, and reliability of our cloud systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into effective cloud solutions, participate in architecture reviews, and lead engineering best practices to drive delivery excellence across the organization. Qualifications The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of GCP infrastructure and services, including GCP private/internal access technologies, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Cloud Spanner, Dataflow, and Dataproc. A proven track record in architecting, designing, implementing, and managing cloud systems, especially hybrid architectures, is essential. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred; however, equivalent work experience will be considered. Candidates should have at least three years of relevant experience in public cloud administration, specifically with Google Cloud Platform, and hold relevant certifications such as GCP Cloud Engineer or Solutions Architect. Additional certifications like Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect or AWS Solutions Architect are advantageous. Responsibilities Lead the implementation of GCP Data architecture by collaborating with cross-functional teams to align cloud solutions with business needs. Design, deploy, and manage highly available, scalable cloud infrastructure on GCP, ensuring optimal performance and security. Partner with stakeholders and application teams to understand requirements, translate them into cloud architecture designs, and provide ongoing operational support. Develop and execute cloud data migration strategies, including assessing existing systems, identifying gaps, and implementing remediation plans. Ensure the security, compliance, and performance of GCP resources through proper configuration and best practices. Implement and optimize cloud infrastructure components such as virtual networks, storage solutions, databases, compute resources, and identity and access management controls. Define and enforce cloud governance policies, including resource tagging, access controls, and cost management strategies. Monitor cloud environments, troubleshoot issues, and resolve problems to maintain high availability and system performance. Stay informed about the latest trends, tools, and best practices in GCP and cloud computing, providing recommendations for continuous improvement. Collaborate with DevOps teams and utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Jenkins, Docker, and GitHub for automation and deployment. Ensure the security and compliance of all cloud infrastructure, data, and applications, adhering to organizational policies and industry standards. Develop scripts and automation solutions to streamline operations and improve system efficiency.
