About The Role Boeing is seeking a highly skilled BackEnd Software Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join our Model-Based Engineering (MBE) software team based in Berkeley, Missouri. This pivotal role focuses on supporting Boeing Defense Services (BDS) and involves leading the development of web applications and services that are critical to our defense and aerospace projects. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for designing APIs, developing data-processing pipelines, optimizing database queries, and establishing production-ready infrastructure to support scalable, high-performance systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative prototypes and transition them into robust, operational solutions. Qualifications Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, data science, or related fields, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in backend software development. An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance is required, with the ability to obtain Special Program Access. Preferred candidates will have extensive experience with Java, Spring, Oracle SQL, SQL Server, and server languages such as Go or Python. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, cloud platforms like AWS, and modern architectural styles including microservices and event-driven systems is highly desirable. Additional qualifications include experience with CI/CD tools, Docker, Kubernetes, and frontend frameworks such as NodeJS and ReactJS. Responsibilities Lead the architecture, development, documentation, and maintenance of efficient and innovative software processes, tools, and methodologies to streamline the software engineering lifecycle, including continuous integration, delivery, and deployment of safety-critical software. Provide technical oversight across systems, guiding teams in designing and operating production-ready applications and infrastructure. Evaluate emerging technologies and seek innovative solutions to address current and future challenges in software development. Mentor and develop engineers at all levels by sharing knowledge and fostering growth within the team. Manage projects from conception through deployment with minimal supervision, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape application architecture and expand existing infrastructure for multi-application communication, logging, alerts, authentication, and configuration management. Create comprehensive test suites to verify system reliability, performance, and behavior under various conditions. Engage in architectural discussions, influence project roadmaps, and take ownership of key initiatives to drive continuous improvement. Research and oversee the implementation of current and emerging technologies, frameworks, and regulatory requirements relevant to software systems. Partner with stakeholders to translate system-level requirements into detailed software specifications, ensuring traceability from design to testing. Conduct code reviews to maintain high standards of quality and adherence to requirements and standards. Resolve complex technical issues, driving innovations that enhance system availability, resilience, and scalability. The salary range for the experienced level is approximately $126,650 to $171,350, while the senior level ranges from $160,650 to $217,350.
