Software Engineering

About this role

This role involves building and shipping AI-powered features for a healthcare administrative platform. The engineer will work in a small, six-person team supporting over 200,000 clinical encounters weekly. Responsibilities include owning projects from requirements to deployment, building AI agents for clinical chart auditing, and contributing to the engineering culture and architecture. The technical environment involves TypeScript, React, SQL, and AI-native development including LLMs and RAG. The engineer will work closely with clinical users to ensure products solve real operational pain points.

More than 40 million Americans need behavioral health care, yet only a small share of those with serious needs — addiction, autism, eating disorders, and other forms of mental illness — actually get treated. Stigma isn't the only barrier. There's a deeper, systemic problem: the burden of proof insurers place on providers. Because high-acuity care is expensive, treatment facilities have to constantly demonstrate that patients qualify and that every clinical record can withstand an audit, just to get paid. The result is clinicians, administrators, and operators losing 15+ hours a week to paperwork and proof-building — hours that should go to patients instead.

We exist to make sure life-saving care is never delayed or denied because of red tape.

We've built AI-powered digital assistants that function as an administrative partner throughout a patient's entire treatment journey, proving medical necessity every step of the way. These assistants take on the heavy lifting of cross-checking clinical necessity and compliance requirements in real time — driving more treatment approvals, giving clinicians more time with patients, and shortening how long facilities wait to get paid for their work.

Our goal is to clear the administrative path so facilities can grow their impact without running their people into the ground. If you believe patients should get care based on clinical need — not on whether a facility can out-maneuver an insurance company — we'd like to talk to you.

Who You Are

  • You want your work to count. You're drawn to hard problems and to teammates who push each other to do their best work in service of something bigger.
  • Ambiguity doesn't slow you down. When you notice a gap, you don't wait for permission — you talk to the team, talk to customers, and start building.
  • You move with urgency. Healthcare providers treat their patients with urgency every day, and you want your code and product decisions to reflect that same sense of commitment.
  • You care about craft. You take real pride in writing clean, well-engineered code that solves genuinely hard healthcare problems.
  • You're collaborative, not competitive. You do your best work on a team where ego takes a back seat and people genuinely enjoy building something meaningful together.

Technical Qualifications

You bring 2+ years of full-time experience and are strong in:

  • TypeScript and React — you're comfortable navigating and contributing to complex, real-world codebases.
  • SQL and relational databases — you write performant queries, design sensible data models, and know when a relational database is (and isn't) the right call.
  • AI-native development — you use LLMs as part of your everyday workflow, have shipped production features built on them, and understand prompt engineering, tool integration, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) in practice.
  • Systems-level thinking — you can speak confidently about cloud architecture and tooling choices, and know how to match the solution to the problem.

The Role

You'll join a six-person team supporting over 200,000 clinical encounters a week, with a customer base that's growing fast. From your first weeks, you'll take ownership of real projects and ship end-to-end features that clinicians and operators rely on daily to help their patients.

What You'll Do

  • Build and ship AI-powered features. We're building what you might call "Cursor for medical records." We recently launched an AI agent that automatically audits clinical charts and flags issues that could block a patient from getting approved for care — and that's just the beginning.
  • Move quickly without cutting corners. You'll own your projects fully, from initial requirements through deployment, and you'll answer directly to the people using what you build. Our CI/CD setup is fast and reliable, so your work reaches users quickly.
  • Stay close to customer outcomes. Everyone on the team talks directly with our clinical users. We listen to their operational pain points, dig for insight, and measure our success by how much time we save back-office staff, how accurate case reviews become, and how many patients ultimately get the care they need.
  • Help define our engineering culture. You'll have real input on tooling, architecture, and code review practices — shaping how this team works and grows.
