About the job Job Title: Senior Kafka Platform Engineer Location: Switzerland Job Type: Full-time About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Senior Kafka Platform Engineer to join our client team in Switzerland. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale Kafka platforms on Microsoft Azure, utilizing GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Confluent. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud architecture, DevOps practices, and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities: - Performing a platform upgrade to version 8.0 • Migrating secret handling to an external secret operator • Analyzing tiered storage solutions and implementing enhancements within the framework of Kafka 4.0 • Ensuring the operation and continuous development of the event streaming platform based on Confluent Kafka • Close collaboration within the DevOps team to implement technical requirements in an Azure and Kubernetes environment • Responsible for adapting and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab Requirements: • Proficient use of Azure, Kubernetes, GitLab, and GitLab CI/CD Pipelines • 5-8 years of experience as a Senior DevOps Engineer with a focus on Confluent for Kubernetes and Kafka • Experience in performing platform upgrades (specifically to version 8.0) • Highly skilled in migrating from secret handling to external secret operators • Open personality with a quick grasp of new concepts • Excellent German skills and good English skills Nice-to-have qualifications • Experience in analyzing tiered storage • Knowledge of KAFKA 4.0 upgrades Further information - Assignment duration: July 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027 with option to extend - Workload: 100% - Location: Zurich with remote work component (only possible within Switzerland) - per week Location: Zurich We offer a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and a dynamic work environment.
