About this role
The candidate will build a new MDM/PIM platform from scratch for a Fortune 500 company as part of a greenfield project. Responsibilities include developing REST APIs and microservices using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot, and managing large volumes of product data through validation, enrichment, and deduplication. The technical environment involves GCP services like Cloud Run, GKE, and BigQuery, alongside PostgreSQL. A core part of the daily workflow involves using Claude Code and agentic development workflows to enhance engineering productivity. The engineer will work on data processing and ingestion pipelines and integrate services with enterprise and legacy systems.

Senior Java Backend Engineer Agentic Development / MDM

Location - Ukraine
Join Grid Dynamics to build a new MDM/PIM platform from scratch for a leading Fortune 500 company.
This is a greenfield project where you’ll build scalable Java backend services, work with large volumes of product data, and use AI-powered agentic development with Claude Code as part of your daily engineering workflow.
What You’ll Do
- Build backend services and business logic for a large-scale MDM/PIM platform
- Develop REST APIs and microservices with Java and Spring Boot
- Work with product data: validation, enrichment, matching, deduplication, and Golden Records
- Build integrations with enterprise, external, and legacy systems
- Develop data processing and ingestion pipelines
- Work with GCP services and large datasets
- Design and optimize PostgreSQL and BigQuery solutions
- Write clean, testable, production-ready code
- Use Claude Code and agentic development workflows as a core part of your everyday development
What we’re looking for
- Strong commercial experience with Java 17/21
- Strong Spring Boot and backend development skills
- Experience building REST APIs and distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with GCP — Cloud Run, GKE, Pub/Sub, Dataflow or similar
- Strong PostgreSQL and relational database experience
- Experience with BigQuery and large-scale data processing
- Good knowledge of JUnit and Mockito
- Experience with microservices and/or event-driven architecture
- Experience integrating services with external or legacy systems
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code — mandatory
- Upper-Intermediate English
Important: Agentic Development Requirement
Working knowledge of Agentic AI development and AI SDLC - mandatory
Nice to Have
- Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) or Product Information Management (PIM) platforms.
- Experience working with product catalog, product hierarchy, or fitment data.
- Knowledge of PIES / ACES or other industry data standards.
- Experience with data governance, data quality, golden records, survivorship, or entity resolution.
- Experience integrating with mainframe systems.
- Experience with GCP data engineering services such as Dataflow and Pub/Sub.
- Experience with other agentic coding tools or AI-assisted development workflows.
