Role Description
We are looking for a Senior Backend / DevOps Developer to join our cloud engineering team. You will design and build scalable serverless services in a production AWS environment, working closely with our senior international team on a platform that processes large volumes of media in real time.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build serverless backend services using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, and DynamoDB
- Implement secure authentication and authorisation flows with AWS Cognito and OAuth2/OIDC
- Build and maintain asynchronous processing pipelines for document and image workloads
- Contribute to API design and backend architecture decisions
- Integrate AI/LLM tooling to improve code quality and development workflows
- Participate in code reviews and help maintain a high engineering standard
Qualifications
- Fluent in English
- 8+ years of backend development, with at least 5 years in AWS serverless environments
- Strong Node.js / TypeScript / Python
- AWS proficiency: Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, Cognito
- DynamoDB data modelling (GSI/LSI, access patterns)
- Python for scripting and data processing
- Security best practices: JWT, IAM, secrets management
- Working knowledge of DevOps practices — CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, and infrastructure as code
